Woodland Animal Stick Puppets

Woodland animal stick puppets are so easy to make, and because they are made using a variety of Fiskars punches rather than scissors, this is a safe and easy activity for kids of all ages.

We created an owl, bunny, beaver, chipmunk, raccoon, bear, mouse, and fox for our stick puppet set, but you can also make plenty of other animals with these punches!

1. To begin, create an oval body for each animal, and then use a combination of petal punches, circle punches, and heart punches to create the other details of each animal. We used the ¼"circle punch for each of the eyes and various sizes of petal punches for the ears.

2. Create the owl and the fox faces with heart punches, and use the petal punch to create detailing around the beaver and raccoon eyes.

3. Tails and arms are also conveniently formed with petal punches. The scalloped border punch is perfect for creating the owl's feathered chest.

4. Use a scissors to cut the teeth and the beaver's tail by hand.

5. Lastly, glue your animals together and use a marker to color in the owl's nose, the beaver's and fox's tails, and the chipmunk's stripes. Attach the puppets to dowels or sticks.
