How to Make a Hanging Mobile

Step 1: Cut out your shapes. To create your own unique shape mobile, start by using the Fiskars® Shapexpress2™ Knife and Templates to cut shapes from cardstock or sheets of thin plastic. Hold the template firmly in position as you move the knife through the cut tracks. You can even cut frames of shapes by using the Shapexpress2™ to cut a smaller shape, then without moving the template, cut a larger shape around it. I wanted lots of variety in my project, so I used the Circle, Hexagon, Rectangle

and Triangle shape templates.

Step 2: Punch holes into shapes. Use the Fiskars® 1/16" Hand Punch to create small holes in the top and bottom of each of your shapes. These holes will allow your shapes to be tied together in our next step.

Step 3: Join shapes together. Next, thread invisible thread or fishing line through the hole of one shape and knot the end so it doesn't come loose. Tie the other end of the thread to the next shape. Repeat this process until you have 8 strands each measuring approx. 24" in length, or whatever dimensions fit your space best. You can make you shapes as close or as far apart from each other as you like. I added a bit of variety in the string length between my shapes to show more colors and shapes at every angle!

Step 4: Hang shapes from hoop. Tie the top of each strand of shapes evenly around your gold hoop. Then, use four lengths of twine tied to the gold hoop to hang the mobile evenly from a hook in your ceiling. Open a nearby window and watch the mobile flutter in the breeze – what a fun way to add color into your space!
